Spring Series (Day 5) The perfect reunion

After three weeks away from the lake, with dinghy racing taking priority at the sailing club, the RC Laser skippers were welcomed back with perfect Spring weather. The day began with A rigs but as the winds freshened and changed direction the B rig became the order of the day. Perhaps the best racing of the season so far was experienced by all today. The close racing of recent weeks was displayed yet again as 6 skippers were usually separated by less than a couple of boat lengths right up to the final leeward mark. No fewer than 4 skippers enjoyed 1st places with Hugo Chandor (GBR 455) eventually taking the overall lead from Darren Mussell in 2nd with his shiny new (GBR 1106) and Richard Whi

Spring Series (Day 4) Light winds, strong finishes.

Spring is definitely here. Wonderful sunshine and light zephyrs made for fascinating and unpredictable sailing. Joined by the BSC commodore racing an RC Laser for the first time, the fleet numbered 5 on the line for almost all the races. Of the 5 starters 3 enjoyed 1st places and 4 enjoyed 2nds, with close finishes once again becoming commonplace and demonstrating the raised overall standard. Hugo Chandor (GBR 455) took 1st from Glyn Howson (GBR 124) with both Graham Waugh (GBR 476) and Richard Whittle (GBR 801) sharing equal 3rd on 31 points apiece. Dinghy open meetings necessitate a break for the RCL skippers for the next two weekends and racing will resume at 10am on Sunday 23rd April.
