Summer series (Day 1) Declaration of intent

While the cat's away ... With light winds throughout the day and with both John Sharman and Hugo Chandor competing elsewhere, Fran Fairclough (GBR 701) posted an emphatic declaration of intent for the Summer Series. Upsetting the established world order Fran took 3 firsts and six second place finishes to win the day. Equalling Richard Whittle (GBR 801) on total points but edging ahead after discards it is clear that a new pecking order is being established at Burwain. The racing just gets better ...

Spring series (Day 11) Championship racing ...

What a day! The perfect prelude to the National Championships in one weeks' time. No fewer than 7 skippers from Burwain turned up to greet a further 6 visitors from as far afield as the South of England, the Midlands and Wales. After a 10.30am briefing the Northern District Championship and National Travellers Trophy racing was underway. Gusty winds and B rigs made racing extremely challenging for all with the windward mark causing occasional havoc amongst the entire fleet due to the swirling breezes over the dam wall. Calls of 'Starboard' were frequently premature from skippers who then found they were flipped onto Port before they'd finished their warning. Dave Fowler (GBR 840) from Kingsm
