Two more days to go in this years Spring series. After a 3 week break due to the Sailing club regatta weekend and a BSC Open meeting the stalwarts arrived again to do battle.
A good course set by John Sharman (GBR 428) saw all skippers racing from the far side of the lake in front of the boatpark. A rigs were the order of the day, gradually becoming more testing as the morning wore on.
After lunch B rigs were best suited to the new course and racing resumed from the clubhouse. A simple handicap system, with 2 boats, Sharman and Chandor (GBR 455) leaving 1 minute behind the fleet worked extremely well for the end results. 4 out of 6 skippers took 1st places and 5 out of 6 took 2nd places with plenty of photo finishes on the line.
All in all a good day with standards across the board clearly rising weekly. Next weekend we welcome visiting skippers from across the UK for the Northern District Chamionship and Travellers Trophy racing. Should be a great event for skippers and spectators alike.
