After the tension and hubbub of last weekends Northern District Championship racing today was a much quieter affair. With only 4 skippers on the start line the day had the potential to produce predictable and repetitive results. What happened could not have been further from that expectation.
Light winds dictated A rigs all day with a brief forray into B's for a couple of races mid morning. Changeable wind directions added to the fun of the day but the real surprise and delight was the closeness of the racing. Only a fool would have placed a bet. Every skipper scored at least one win and one finish in every other position down the fleet. Photo finishes were common place and never between the same two boats.
12 races were completed around an excellent extended course and a tremendous day of competition was enjoyed by all. If it was the same again next week there wouldn't be any complaints from the magic 4!
