With 6 boats on the start line to include a welcome return for John and Susan Sharman and entries from two visiting Fleetwood skippers the racing promised to be serious and so it proved.
The course, painstakingly set out by John Sharman needed alteration within the first two races as the wind swung from the South round to the East ... and back again! Almost every start was preceded by the 'Change of course' warning. But it worked.
No fewer than 16 races were completed with tremendous results all the way through the fleet. Every skipper, with only one exception, enjoyed at least 5 top 3 finishes. John Sharman took overall first place from Hugo Chandor, the two separated by only 6 points after 3 dicards had been applied and congratulations go to Eric Reid from Fleetwood who, unfamiliar with the peculiarities of Burwain sailing took third.
Evidence of how close the racing was could be seen in the final results with a blanket of only 3 points being thrown over the 3rd, 4th and 5th placed skippers.
It was a great days' racing with which to close the Summer Series and a warm welcome awaits the Fleetwood boys when they return.
