Out with the old and in with the new.
The old: the Autumn Series saw a distinct changing of the guard in terms of the skippers that usually dominate the places at the sharp end of the fleet. Finding some consistency in all weathers Richard Whittle, Fran Fairclough and Graham Waugh all scored highest overall to take the top three places for the series. The club is, without question improving both in standard of sailing and in size of membership. Congratulations go to Graham Waugh who, for the first time found the necessary consistency to win the day. The win, however could not have been much tighter with Richard Whittle earning 2nd place after scoring identical points, and equal number of 1st places but one fewer 2nd places.
The new: it was abundantly clear that the series beginning next week would be the Winter series. Snow decorated the hills and, for the first time in Buwain RC Lasers history, the rescue boat had to plough through a cover of 1cm thick ice across half of the lake. The only option was to race on the far side of the lake and four races were completed before lunch.
After lunch a further 7 races were completed over a shortened course and with stiffening winds. Terriffic and close racing ensued with only one boat, Hugo Chandor's GBR 455 suffering any damage.
